Hello,

I am trying to synchronize a-190 by using midi clock from a Cubase project. The 190 clock output is divided by software divider and controls a a-155 sequencer. But the clock sent to the seq does not follow the project, that is too fast. The manual of 190 says that the clock can be divided in these ways:

divisor clocks per note note length

1 96 1/96th

3 32 1/32nd

6 16 1/16th

12 8 1/8th

24 4 1/4

but none of these is properly controlling 155 seq…

This also happens if I leave the clock rate unchanged and use the same in-160 clock divider.

Has anyone had this problem?

if you devide by 3 you should normally be ok. or by 6, if you want slower speed.

for best analog sequencer sync, use the gate out of the A190, make 16th notes patterns and send the gates to its clock input. this is the solution i use.

Thanks Bakis for you suggestion.

If i divide the clock by 3 o by 6 the step doesn't play 1/16ht or 1/8th note length, but faster notes, not synchronized.

I assume you are doing something wrong. The A-160 works fine that way at 
my rack.

btw. the A-160 is not usable for clock divisions as it is an up-counter, 
and you need a down-counter for it. See

The up counter "shifts" the positive slopes of the divided signals.

Maybe it has to do with the counting method of program change used to set
the clock divider of the A-190-1. The A-190-1 manual was written in 1996 and
at this time it was common to count the program change numbers from 1 to
128, today it's common to count 0 to 127 (in newer user manuals we point out
to these different counting methods). Try to use other program change
numbers (e.g. 2 instead of 3 and 5 instead of 6). Maybe then it works.

I used the Inc/Dec buttons to set the clock divider. I will try to set with the programs changes...

I'm sorry, the problem was the latency of my soundcard. The A-190 is working properly!!
