A-112 Sample Dump Tool

A-112 Sample Dump Tool

2012-10-15 by Lars

I found that someone has written a osx friendly editor for A-112 on http://www.rampe-d.de/Software/A-112_Sample_Dump_Tool.html It is a Max/MSP standalone patch.
However, it is not possible to download (no links) on the page. Anyone knows more about this. Where can I get the program?
I sure would love to bring my old A-112 to life again.

greetings,

Lars

Great! I couldn't find a mail address to the guy that wrote the patch. Instead I wrote the Doepfer software division requesting the max patch. I can absolutely share it if I get it. I assume that it is okey with the author since it is share ware.

Does anyone know the module's specs for transferring waveform files to it? It would probably be reasonably straightforward to write a Python script that can upload arbitrary waveforms to it via the command line... It sounds like it's a custom sysex command and format..?

It seems to be sysex yes. But let us wait for a response from the guy
first... Before we start the whole "I am going to write this mega cool A112
sample program"-discussion again...
Sorry, once every 2 years the same discussion surfaces. Been on this list
since 2003 I believe... SO calculate the amount of disappointments here
about this topic :D

Ah, sorry, I didn't realise this was a periodic discussion. :) For what it's worth, I was going to try something much less ambitious, along the lines of a program that *just* uploads an 8-bit .wav file via MIDI and nothing else. I didn't mean to get anyone's hopes up, but if anyone has the specs, I'd be happy to give it a shot. Given how bitrot works, the more redundancy there is on such software, the better!

Heh, no, you're right. I've had a look at the archives now and I'm not the first person to think she could do that... Not even the first professional programmer to think so... Still, I've worked out how to do it, and I have most of the parts ready (I can currently intercept MIDI signals due to another project I'm working on, so I could see what the DOS program sends and try to decipher it), so if I have Dieter's blessing, I'd be happy to give it a go and keep you all posted if I do stumble across anything. If there's demand for such a program, anyway. (And from what you've told me, it sounds like there is!)

Go for it! Most of us probably just need a simple program to uppload wav files.

Sorry - I don't know anything about this tool. It was not programmed in
behalf of Doepfer. But it would be good to know who programmed the tool and
if he agrees that we add the tool for download to our website.

Best wishes

You have my blessing :-) I'd be happy to be able to offer a new dump program
for the A-112. As mentioned in earlier threads we have no person in the
company who is able to program such a software. The person who programmed
the DOS version (Roland Mayer) has left the company many years ago.
I'm also willing to pay for it (money or modules) if we obtain the
permission to add the program to our website for download.

Best wishes

Let me see what I can do. :) I certainly won't promise anything, but I've been learning a bit of how the MIDI protocol works recently and it would make a nice, fun challenge!

Thank you,
Zoë.
