Doepfer

Hi all,

Is anyone aware if in the USA there are pre-built Doepfer-ready racks that are 3U?  Analoguehaven has just about everything Doepfer makes, but the smallest rack choice is the 3U Mini-Case (32hp), and then 6U, 84hp (x2) is the next smallest.  Nothing in between.  I'd like a 3U (3U x 84hp for example) since I am limited in what I can purchase.

There used to be a case called the G3 which is exactly what you want, however, possibly it was discontinued, as the price was almost the same as the G6 (the 6u version of the same)

The G3 may still be available, but, if not, someone may have one 2nd hand?

If I remember correctly, it's not feasible for Doepfer to make them anymore, so you have to either ask him nicely and pay just as much as for a 6U (possibly slightly more, I forget), or get one second hand.  However, I just tried searching for the e-mail in which he said this and couldn't find it, so I could be wrong.

AnalogHaven also sells the TiptopAudio range - http://www.analoguehaven.com/tiptopaudio/happyendingkit/ give you 3U with power, or you can just by the rails and rack ears.

Ikea Rast http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/44361109/ has been used by some, and is reported to be near perfect size for 6U, just add rails, eg. from Raxxess.

This is not ready built, but would require minimum effort to put together, and is low cost.  If you are ok with the Tiptop free standing, then assembly is just 4 screws.

I have not used the Ikea or the uZeus power supply, but I have four of the Tiptop rail/rack ears sets, plus their passive bus board, and I am very happy with them.
