I modified Doepfer modules as below and drilled blank
synthesizers.Com panels for faceplates. I just have to find time to
do the lettering of the panels. I posted a picture of my synth called
Doepfer-Synth.com. The top cabinet has the Doepfer modules. For more
info about the synth: www.bigsynth.com

RE: [Doepfer_a100] Doepfer Mods

Thanks for the info and for posting the pictures. Inspiring --
definitely looks like the hot ticket. Panel and knob size and jack
durability are basically the only shortcomings of the Doepfer that I can
see.

Do you have a photo showing how you've mounted the boards to the panel?

It's somewhat dispiriting but not crucially so that doing over my
75-module system would probably run around US$2,700 or so, plus the time
investment, but that's still no doubt a savings over MOTM and probably
at least in line with Synthesizers.com if not cheaper.
Sythesizers.com's cabinets would be a logical elegant finishing touch.

Perhaps doing this kind of work would be a nice sideline for someone --
there'd definitely be economies of scale. In fact it would be extremely
nice if Doepfer were able to offer this kind of larger panel size or
and/or retrofit to interested customers.

Everything's a trade-off, I guess. The panel sizes are also one of
the big *advantages* of the Doepfer system. You can get more A100
modules into a given amount of space than any other modular system.
