A-190

2010-10-28 by Duncan

I have just bought a basic a-100 system, LC9 case, AD5 power adaptor, A-190-1 MIDI-CV converter, A110, A120, A140, A131. The problem is when I switch it on all the lights on the A-190-1 light up constantly and whatever I do nothing seems to happen, any ideas?

Is the Adaptor on that rail, which supplies the A190?
If yes:
Wrongly placed power multipin cables or/and wrong placed AD5 adaptor.

The basic advice is:
Install the modules one by one, power the system each time up, check
whether it works correctly, then power the system off and install the
next module.
If you install all modules in one step and then one of them causes a
fault in the supply rails (e.g by wrongly placed multipin connector)
then you do not have a chance to find out which module / which connector
causes the problem.

hi Duncan,

some ideas:

have you connected the AD5 correctly? (the red stripe down).

have you connected all the modules correctly? (again ribbon's red stripe down on the busboard)

do all 3 leds on the right of the busboard light up? (+12 volts, -12volts, +5volts)

did you buy all the above items new? if not, did the moduoles came with
the ribbon cable pre-connected to them? is the orientation of the ribbon
cable correct on the module side?

check the A190 manual (in the doepfer manuals section, or in this
group's 'files' section) and reset it, to see if this will fix the
problem.

best regards,

Bakis.

Thank you Florian and Bakis for the hints. If the problem still occurs after
you checked these notes please contact Matthias Marass
(keyboards@doepfer.de) directly. He is our A-190-1 specialist and is
responsible for the final test and service of the A-190-1.

Best wishes
