Product request...

2010-10-20 by james.husted@mac.com

I don't know whether this has come up before on this list but I would love it if Doepfer made a Half width "monster base" case. I make and use performance modules and love the Doepfer portable cases (I have 4 full ones and need more) and really like the smaller size. You can pack just the ones you need for the gig and all 4 fit easily in my Volkswagen super beetle. I would love a 84HP wide Monster Base like box to go under the cabinets I already have. I know you can probably stack 2 of the portable cabs on top of a monster base but the monster won't fit in my car. The layout of the monster base is perfect for performance modules and I would buy a couple of them if they were available. Any plans to make more cases with the same layout (horizontal panel layouts)?

I'm not looking to buy something like this but;

Wouldn't a half sized monster base be a 2 x 84HP case with two bus boards and one PSU?

How about a 9U version with vertical, 45 degrees and horizontal rails (is it Buchla style then?):

There are no plans for an A-100P12 because this size would be a bit
disadvantageous because two PSUs would be necessary. With one PSU and 12U (4
bus boards) there are a lot of popular module combinations that would exceed
1200 mA.

I don't understand the difference of this suggestion to the available
A-100P6.

That's kind of the A-100PMB (monster base) and a A-100PMS6

We have already so many different types of A-100 cases available (A-100G6,
A-100P6, A-100P9, A-100PMS6, A-100PMS9, A-100PMS12, A-100PMD12, A-100LC6,
A-100LC9, A-100MC raw, A-100MC black) and I don't want to add new versions.
Especially for our dealers it's a big problem to have that many different
versions of A-100 cases in stock.

Best wishes

He means a monster base but with half width (~19"). I also could imagine
to buy this kind of case, but I can understand if you hesitate to add
another case to your product line. Especially as it requires storage space.

May be you could offer it as a special order item with longer delivery time.

You are right. Thanks for clarification. The construction of the monster
base is a bit complicated. Consequently the monster base with 84HP would be
much more expensive than the A-100P6. I can ask our case manufacturer for a
quotation. As it's a custom design I expect about twice of the A-100P6.

Best wishes (and thank you for the nice synthesizer meeting weekend)
