A-188-1 clock frequency input

2014-01-14 by Zoë Blade

Hi!

So I was trying out some basic Karplus-Strong synthesis on my A-188-1. It makes a really nice sort of plucked string sound! I've been having great fun just playing a middle C and sampling it. It would be even nicer to play it live, with all those wonderful subtle imperfections that really bring it to life.

So I connected my pitch CV output to the BBD's clock frequency input, and it's just shy of 1V/oct. It manages something like 10 or 11 notes per volt (as both the maximum of CV2 and the fixed setting of CV1, I believe).

I realise it isn't designed to do this, and it's a bit of a hack. Still, I was wondering if there might be some sort of (presumably warranty-voiding, and I'm fine with that) mod I could do to make CV1 and/or CV2 everso slightly more sensitive? Is there a preset potentiometer or something for this, perhaps?

I really will end up buying the German language A-100SM at this rate... :)

Thanks,
Zoë.
