Or, if using with a modular system, employ a Sample & Hold module to control when the pitches hold and change. I've done that when using a single CV sequence and multiple Gate patterns to create several patterns from the one CV sequence (if two gate patterns are active simultaneously, they are always in tune, while controlling separate voices... Like a 16th note, high pitch pattern with occasional sub octave notes). Having the S&H in effect, you get single, long sub tones, rather than a "bending" release stage. Try it out. I also designed a Reaktor ensemble like this if any of you use Reaktor.
