hello dave,

soft sync sounds clearly different compared to hard sync.
it is not really possible to say which sounds better, it is too
much a matter of taste. to my ears the soft sync sounds cleaner
and less fuzzy, so i tend to use soft sync more often than
hard sync, at least on my a110's. for me the soft sync option 
is more usable and therefore well worth wiring an additional
jack for it. of course i can only speak for myself.

correct, there is no potentiometer at the lin fm input, which
indeed would be a good addition. i don't have this because
usually i use a vca in front of the lin fm input anyway,
and without a knob it was easy to keep the additional
panel at a size of 4 te.
