I use QTR too, so help with that and UT3D would be more than welcome!

Indeed, one of my problems is probably that there are too many variables for
me to get my
feet on the ground.

Reminds me of someone trying to start out in the chemical darkroom printing
on 5 different papers, using 3 different developer formulas and hasn't yet
learned what a fine print looks like.

Hi Myron,

Richard sounds a bit sarcastic here, but he has a point. QTR and
(from hearsay) PrintFixPro are both excellent tools. Both have there
pros and cons, but for when starting with B&W printing those are not
so relevant. Important is that they require quite a different
workflow. From own recent experience I know it takes some effort to
get that workflow right. So, like Richard implicitly seem to suggest,
select one or the other and get yourself acquinted with it. From what
I read in this forum, probably PFP could be the better starting point
for you, given the fact that you already own it and use UT3D inks.

But if you decide differently, I'm happy to help you out where I can.

Joost

I assume he means both, since you can use PrintFIX PRO to export measurement
data to linearize QTR, and to build CreateICC 'profiles'.

Then my first set of instructions (simple as they are) would be the ones to
begin with. That and the PFP2 help should be all that you need.
