Ok! new to QuadToneRIP, first print ????

2006-08-09 by Lynn Ross

I just downloaded and the RIP and did a print with it and must say I'm
not getting anything like my screen on my computer showed it to be
printed like.... I just followed the Adobe Reader guide and hit the
print button and got a really dark image almost black .. being
pariniod about wasting ink thought that I'd see if any of you have
some help for me

Now the interface where the Curves and blend are I just put in the
NONE for curves and blend at 50% everything else was as the
instuctions said to do.
One more thing does this use my profiles that I put in for printing in
PS what I mean is I used at one time the print with preview and set it
to some things that are suppose to help print from PS
Hope that I made myself clear if not let me know
Lynn

Hi Lynn,

You need to select at least one curve. Curves are the profiles QTR use to
know how to print, so without them you won't be able to do anything useful
the program. Typically people will select a warm and a cool curve with a 50%
blend which will create a neutral tone.

Use 1440dpi unless you know the curve is designed for another resolution. If
you print with 2880dpi using a curve designed for 1440dpi the print will be
very dark.

Which printer, inks and papers do you use?

I use the 2200 epson printer and last night I used the
matte paper because it was a test to see if it would
work so that I wouldn't waste good paper the paper
that I want to use is the epson velvet fine art, for
now
And I printed at 1440 dpi set in my printer settings

Thanks for the thoughts about curves I didn't know
what they did I just thought that they where to give a
tone to the print and I didn't want a tone so choose
none, which seem to be the right one for no tone
Thanks much Daniel looking forward to another reply
