Have you successfully copied files to this folder before? Can you still print anything? In Windows Explorer, if you click on the 'Edit' menu, is there an 'Undo xxxx' menu entry (where xxxx = 'delete' or 'rename' )? If so, it might be worth selecting that entry then refreshing your view of the C:\WINDOWS folder by using the F5 key. HTH Alan

I agree with all you said. I have gone to the folder in the past, so I know it was there. And as you said the files contained within this fofolder are necessary. I am going to reboot and make sure all files arand folders are shown (ie not hidden). This is truly a puzzle to me. Rather than look for the folder, search for your icc and icm files. Since many of them are there, it should point you to the 32 folder. Hi Joe, I just saw this message today and just in case you haven't had a fix yet I thought I'd respond. I lost my system32 folder as the result of virus activity on my machine. Of course it's still there, just invisible, otherwise you couldn't use your computer. Anyway, what I did successfully on my Windows XP machine was: 1. Go to Control Panel/Folder Options/View and make sure "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. This may resolve the issue but probably won't if the folder just suddenly up and left. 2. Go to Start/Run and when the dialogue box comes up type "cmd" or if that doesn't work "command" (without the quotes, of course) and when the DOS window comes up, type: "attrib -a -h -r -s c:\windows\system32" (again without the quotes and note the space in front of each "-" ), press <Return> and type "Exit" (no quotes) to close the DOS window, and up she pops. Please note again that this problem may have been caused by a virus or worm, and you should take all steps to ensure your computer is clean. [Apart from being off topic, I'm always embarrassed to be discussing this sort of thing in front of Macintosh people. :>) I mean, fancy having to use DOS after all this time!] Regards, Geoff Meadows

Yes, very good point. It's important to perform a comprehensive virus scan on all the hard drives on the PC ASAP. Keep the anti-virus definitions up to date. If you're connected to the Internet for significant amounts of time then invest in a firewall as well (or at least make sure the Win XP firewall is enabled). Hope you get things sorted out. Alan
