Hello Bill,
Channel mixer is a photoshop utility for converting from color to
grayscale images. It has nothing to do with the printer. It is just
one of many techniques used to accomplish that end. Printer
differences are controlled via color management, or B&W, "profiles" as
well as other more emperical techniques ill thought of by some but
used by many.
