Archive Paper for museum photos in Australia

Archive Paper for museum photos in Australia

2005-07-28 by Ted Shaw

G'day -

I am about to reproduce a large number of photographs for a small regional museum in central Queensland Australia using an Epson 2400. I had planned on using EEM (known here as Epson Archival Matte), but thanks to this list have learned that the paper is acidic and yellows after a period of time.

Paul Roark, in a recent post, suggested using Premier Art Hot Press 205 for archival work. However I can't find an Australian source for it or an off-shore source that ships to Australia.

Any advice about another suitable paper that is available in Australia or a source for the Hot Press 205 would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ted Shaw

Ted,

You could look at any in Hahnemuhle, Innova or Somerset range. All are
available here, We stock Somerset and are currently adding a number of the
Hahnemuhle papers such as PhotoRag, William Turner and German Etching. These
aren't on our web site yet but we and others can certainly provide them
here.

I have not however seen any source for Prenier Art yet in Australia.

Ted,

Epson UltraSmooth is essentially the same as PremierArt Hot Press (assuming
it's the same as the UltraSmooth they sell here). See
http://www.epson.com.au/consumables/largeformat/695.html.

MIS carries PremierArt Hot Press 205 and will ship internationally, I think.

Epson's Watercolor Radiant White is also archival, though it has brighteners
in it.

Good luck with the project.
