QTR 2.1e/QTRGui 2.12 Printing horizontal line at bottom of image

QTR 2.1e/QTRGui 2.12 Printing horizontal line at bottom of image

2005-01-16 by Kip Cole

After a "cleanout" and install of the 2.1e version (was previously using a
version several release older with batch files) my images are all now
printing with a horizontal grey line of about 3 pixels wide along the bottom
of the image (looks like along the bottom of the photoshop canvas). It's
definitely not in the image file (well, I've looked hard). The line shows
up in both the QTRGui preview window, and on the printed page. This does
sure suggest it's an image file problem I know, but I just can't see it in
the files, and files which used to print fine now also have the line.

Anyway seen this, or got any clever ideas? (could find anything similar in
an archive search)

Regards, --Kip

It might be a TIFF file format problem. If the file is not saved as a
straight TIFF, no compression, no alpha, IBM format, try saving it that way.
If that works, we will probably need a copy of the image to see what is
wrong.

I've experienced this when I print in Landscape orientation. I've
found that when I print in Portrait orientation QTR doesn't print
the line.

Hi Kip,

I've found this problem and have fixed it. There's a couple other things
that I have done which I am testing out. A new version should be available
very soon.

Roy,

Is it necessary to un-install version 2.1d before installing this release?

Also, do you recommend doing the greyscale and 8 bit conversion in PS or
will QTR do that job just as well?

Thanks,
Jos

This has been fixed. There is a new download -- version 2.1f.

Simply download and install.

I don't think its actually needed but it does guarantee a completely fresh
set of files which isn't a bad idea.

I have added a better 8 bit conversion to QTR so it should be indistinguishable.
(At least I can't show a discernable difference). The file is half the size
though so that'll save on disk I/O time.
