Septone Diary Update
2003-09-26 by Ken Schuster
Septone kit arrived yesterday. #1: You need a spare active USB port for the "CryptoBox" (a.k.a. "dongle") in order to load the software. #2: After installing, "Septone" shows up in Photoshop's Export menu, as it's supposed to, but no profiles, media, ink tint, or anything else. I did not install the ink cartridges because I wanted to become familiar with the interface, etc., first. I'm wondering if the Septone interface needs to read data from the cartridges. I don't want to risk swapping Ultrachromes for Septones only to discover it doesn't matter... and then be stuck with a dead printer. I sent the following email to R9, and haven't heard back from them so far: ...snip... Following your Acrobat info file, I do not see the profiles, nor do I see the Septone dialog window with the tint sliders, ink and media selections, etc. I have NOT installed the ink cartridges. If they have to be installed in order to access the plug-in, then I guess my query is answered. Otherwise... ?? Windows XP Pro Photoshop 6.0.1 Epson 2200
