There isn't much that I can add to the first message where I
mentioned this news. Strange enough there isn't any other
publication here so far, I think the magazine must have made a
mistake and published too early. I will make a translation soon.

I have reposted the Dutch magazine article on the Epson 4000 which includes
and English translation of the text. You can find it in the Files section of
the group homepage in folder:

Thanks Martin.

So it looks like it does have a 17" carriage aka Epson 3000 style.
And being able to change the waste ink container surely is a nice
feature. Sounds like this will be an excellent 16x20 format printer.
Perhaps some new 17" wide papers will become available also.

I am a customer whenever Epson gets them on the market !!

Best,
Alex

According to all of the rumors and translations, it seems that the 8-inks may not help
address the issue of B+W printing. On one hand, according to the i_love_epson.co.jp
page, perhaps the PX G inks may be better for glossy printing to eliminate bronzing.
Yet, many had hoped that there would be a second light grey (instead of the one light
grey in the 2100/2200/7600/9600) in order to help produce neutral B+W prints that
were free of metamerism. Now, it seems that there will be two blacks (glossy vs.
matte) in place to allow changing on the fly. While economical, this won't improve
print quality. So, perhaps we will have to wait for future updates for a true B+W
printer from EPSON. Or, perhaps EPSON has significantly improved the driver for the
4000 (similar to their RIP or ImagePrint) to address B+W printing. We can only hope.

Speaking of papers, Moab Paper has 17x22" sheets already in their arsenal.
A2 size really hits a sweet spot in the market for both photographers and
prepress folks alike. Speaking of Moab Papers, I am doing a review of their
papers for Luminous Landscape, and should be out shortly. Very encouraging
papers, I tell you.
