Gallery Los Olivos Featured Artist for September, Reception 9/10

2017-08-28 by Paul Roark

Hello “All Contacts,”

I apologize for this general email, but in case you are not on one of the
other lists that have announced my show in September at Gallery Los Olivos,
I wanted you to get notice of the event.

As many of you know, one of the aspects of black and white photography that
I enjoy is exploring the state of the art printing technologies that are
reasonably available to individual photographers. To the extent possible,
I like to push the technology as far as I can in terms of getting the most
out of it, and for costs that are not only reasonable for me but also help
others enjoy the pleasures of the medium both as viewers and as
photographers who want to print and display their own work.

In this show, printing on canvas with my current generation of B&W inkset
mixes is the focus of the display that will be in the front room of the
gallery. The canvases are printed from 36 inch rolls and are up to 60
inches wide.

Additionally, in the *Santa Ynez Valley Arts’ “Guild Room”* that is located
in Gallery Los Olivos, starting September 6, I will be their “Artist of the
Month.” There I will display carbon prints that are on Arches watercolor
paper. These full sheets (22 x 30”) are “floated” in frames so that the
deckle edges of the Arches clearly show. I call these *"Carbon on Cotton,"*
and they may be the most archival photographic medium that is reasonably
available to individual photographers.

All prints on these media will be sold on a limited edition basis of 5 or
10 maximum prints per image.

If you are in the area, I hope you can get by to see the show. And if you
have any questions, please do no hesitate to contact me.
