inks for c88 printer

2016-12-03 by ann clancy

Years ago there where all gray inks available for this printer.

A student of mine wants to tinker with the c88 with all black inks but i don't remember the name of the company that would supply these carts.

anyone else remember?

thanks

As Nigel reponded, that was the MIS Associates (www.inksupply.com) "EZ" inkset. The K could be MK or PK. The "color" positions were all filled with a dilute carbon ink (PK) that was slightly lighter than LK. As a practical matter, LK works fine in the "color" positions. The basic approach goes back to the C82, and I updated it for the WorkForce 1100. It'll probably work on any Epson that has only the C,M and Y color inks (no dilute colors).

Those inks were still available as of a few months ago. I’ve used ‘em for years, since the C82 set. The C, M and Y inks are all the same density, but come in neutral and warm. You can control from full neutral to full warm by mixing and matching neutral and warm inks in the various ink positions - I believe there are (or at least were) instructions on which inks to put in which position to get more or less warmth on the particular paper you are using. My own setup uses warm in the Magenta position and neutral in the others, to get a tone I like on Red River matte papers.

Cheers,
Kip
