Hello Just Wondering?

Hello Just Wondering?

2016-03-21 by havocagp@...

I don't know if I am in the right place. So please direct me to the right area if anyone knows where I should go about this problem. I have a Epson Stylus Pro 7000, 24" wide format printer. I went with this printer because I don't print much & really just for 2 to 3 day events. I had the Pigment version of this printer the 7900. But I did not print enough on it to keep the heads clean. I spent most of my time, cleaning & changing ink cartridges. I have had much better luck with the Dye based printer on leaving it untended for weeks or even months at a time. recently the printer began to print a image and about 3" into the print it would start to drop a line of black ink usually at both ends of the page. And then soon after I would loose my black print head. I cleaned the print heads a few different ways with no change. But doing a nozzle check it shows a perfect nozzle check print out. I then changed the dampener on the black print head and the problem went away I thought. But at the very end of a 11 X 17 print the black ink blob lines appeared again. the lines missed the image & the image printed fine. But I'm sure the black ink nozzle will again soon fail. Does anyone have any ideas whats causing this?

Repair SPECS:

New waste tank, New Dampeners, New genuine Epson Dye Based Ink Cartridges. Several types of cleaning including the soak over night with simple green below the print head.

Thank You for any help.

The problems you described in the first half of your paragraph made me think damper, and, as you found, they are relatively easy to change in that model. It sounds like that took care of one problem but not another.

If you're having trouble with ink blobs, often near the edges, it could be something like a dog hair hanging from the head assembly. I have a dog in the house and have this type of issue. In addition to the windex-soaked paper towel under the head for clogs, a folded one soaked with a cleaning agent that you and hold the ends of and drag back and forth across the head assembly underside might be worth a try. Also, take a look at your wiper to see if it's so messed up that it's not doing a good job of wiping the head when cleaning. Cleaning the wiper blade might help.

Good luck with the old 7000.
