Digital BW, The Print

I received my new set of MIS cartridges for the Epson 1430 that refuses to recognize my old ones. Before filling them I tried putting an empty one in carriage to see if the LED would go out - it did. I then filled them and after the usual fresh cartridge purging and messing around got them to print perfectly. The printer seems to be able to read their level state as well. 

I then tried mixing MIS and Epson cartridges. I replace the cyan and magenta cartridges with Epson colors and let the printer do its normal cleaning process. This sounded a bit odd to me, but it is a different cycle than the 1400, so it is hard to say if it sounded abnormal or just different. I then printed a nozzle check and got an error message simply stating that 'there is a problem with the printer'. I cleared this and tried it again. This time it printed the nozzle check without complaint. It also showed that the Epson cartridges were about half full, which they are. 

I did not attempt to print a full page, but it appears to me that danger of mixing the cartridges is over stated. You might encounter the occasional error message, but I think it will print OK.
