First of all, it is quite easy to switch between compatible ink sets on a desktop printer. You just need to wipe off the ink stems with qTips before putting different ink carts in. When the printer detects the changed carts it auto cleans. You're ready to go. It's not only easy it's a popular practice with our customers.

Claria is a much stronger dye set than professional dye inks used for large format short term graphics. For the Claria printers, I decided to build a new InkThrift ink using more light resistant dye materials than we currently offer for the pro printer dye inks. InkThrift CL releases Jan/Feb and is color matched to the Claria and has considerable more longevity than the LF dyes. I still do not believe in using color inks for b&w printing, so we won't be advertising them for that use.

So, you could switch easily between InkThrift, ConeColor and Piezography in a supported desktop printer. Many of our customers routinely do that with desktop printers. We also support custom Piezography ink blending in these printers and a lot of our customers have designed their own Piezography ink blends. That is quite simple because of the pre-built K6 and K7 curves I supply to Roy Harrington. They are designed to allow any of our Piezo inks to be used, as well as any blend of our Piezo inks to be used - with the same K6 or K7 curves.

I looked at the website last night and I think this is definitely a viable alternative. I could find the color pigment and BW inksets but not the dye set. The note said coming soon for Claria printers. Maybe I was in the wrong place. Can you send me a URL link?

I've used both the color pigment and the b/w on the 1430 and it only takes 1 clean cycle to switch between the different inksets. haven't tried the dye based version. it's very inexpensive.
