Changing Ink Type

Changing Ink Type

2013-01-04 by Keith

Hi all,
I am about to change an Epson 1400 from a black and white pigment to black and white dye ink. I have my reasons.
My feeling is to fill a set of carts with base solution, do a couple of head cleans over a few days and then print several sheets of paper with a purge pattern. Will this be enough to rid the parking pads of any pigment residue?.
Any thought from the groupd would be most appreciated.

Keith Dugdale.

If the dyes are old style (not Epson Claria/Noritsu) I'd be sure to flush
everything very well and clean off the parking pad. We had lots of trouble
converting old 1280s to pigments due to incompatibilities. I nearly killed
one of my 1400s when HP dyes hit pigments.

On the other hand, the Claria/Noritsu and MIS pigs are compatible. It
takes 2 cleaning cycles to clear the machine. I just switched a 4000 from
MIS pigs to Noritsu dyes with no flushing and 2 power cleans. Works great.
