New Epson 1430

New Epson 1430

Installing first cartridges; does anyone know if the Epson supplied cartridges need to be installed prior to using a set of ARC cartridges filled with a blackink set. Will the printer initalize with a non Epson Cartridge the first time. If the 1400 will accept non Epsons on initalization then I will expect the 1430 to also accept.

This would avoid filling the head with color ink and then having to run purges to get rid of the color.

I just initialized a new epson 1430 with ebony six inks. No problems.

Color inks are still in their package.

I have just installed a new 1430 with refillable carts containibg eboni 6 but the printer will not recognise the carts. I am using the carts designed for a 1400 though. Any ideas (the ink supply live chat is closed).

The 1400 and 1430 use the same carts -- same Epson product numbers.

A few years ago there was a change in the MIS chips. I'm not sure if the old ones are compatible with the newer ones. So, if you filled the carts yourself and notice that the chip types look different, it's possible you ended up with chips from those 2 different approaches.

I bought them all together in a bag from inksupply.com who never do seem to be online to provide technical support. I will be sending them back and getting some from Cone, at least they work.

I got a 1400 with UT14 and got my carts from inksupply, worked like a charm from day one, inksupply support has always been fast and prompt to me, send them an email and I'm sure they'll help you out.

I have been chatting to their support and no solution yet. Unfortunateley it has taken most of the last hour to get nowhere with increasingly longer pauses between replies, now 20 minutes since the last contact. I will probably be asking for a refund because after following their instructions the carts are still not recognised, If someone said they dont know, at least that is better than silence. I do recognise there are timeing problems dealing with people across the sea, but i cant do anything about it. Email is fine as long as there is some response sometime. Maybe I have a dud chip or some simple problem that can be easily solved. Maybe epson have changed something on NZ/Australia printers? Dont know because they wont talk.

To update the situation. I reluctantly installed the epson carts and the printer accepted them with no problem, did a test print, nozzle check, head align and another test print. Then swapped out the oem carts for the MIS carts, and again they were not recognised, so the epson carts are back in the printer and I have a clour printer I dont want. Please do not assume that the MIS carts will work with a new 1430 printer, in my experience they do not.

Hi

I would be interested to know what you decide to do as I have had exactly the same problem with EB6 cartridges not being recognised with a 1430. Thanks

They keep telling me to push the tabs out and to unplug the printer for 30s, over and over again like ground hog day, thats if they arent ignoring me. I have sent pictures, been very patient, tried multiple times. I said I would open a paypal dispute on tuesday but it is hasnt happened yet. Maybe something has changed with the printers they dont know about?

Re: [Digital BW] New Epson 1430

2012-08-29 by Pamela Holt

I am having a similar issue. The Epson 1430 is new (never installed with
color cartridges0, and the empty cartridges were filled per the eboni 6
fill instructions. My printer says that there are cartridges, but no ink is
coming out. I am going to continue searching the emails for instruction
about that part.

Thanks so much!!!

If your printer recognises the carts, make shure you have pulled the plugs out of the air vents, otherwise the ink wont flow because there will be a vacume in the cart. I solved my problem with carts not recognised by buying new carts from a supplier in Hong Kong on ebay. They work fine. My conclusion is that MIS customer service is pretty much worthless, they could have told me at the start. Eboni 6 has a nice tone though and nicely complements the printer I run piezography carbon K7 in. I am out of pocket a little though.

RE: [Digital BW] New Epson 1430

2012-08-30 by m venz

I haved had a similar experience. I also got freight free cartridges from ebay to replace my MIS ones. They are labelled 81n. The supplier also has a website. I got syringes there too.
I have managed to get a decent print using the Epson driver and the Paul Roark paper profile (Method 2 in Paul Roark's instructions) but I am having trouble getting a decent print using QTR and the QTR curve (RR Aurora EB6, Epson 1400) that I downloaded from Paul Roark. I wonder if my work flow is correct? After processing the print it is converted to Grey Gamma 2.2, then saved as a tiff. At this stage the photo looks Ok. From QTR it is printed using the paper specific curve as listed above. I have also tried converting the profile to the QTR matte paper and applying the PS curve GG2.2 to QTR that came with the Paul Roark downloads. These dont seem to make much difference. Does anyone have any suggestions. Have I missed some process? Thanks. Michael To: DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com

Be sure you have removed the stopper or tape that blocks the air inlet.
