You might want to look at the Japanese mulberry papers that Legion/Moab supplies: http://moabpaper.com/moenkopi-washi/ The Bizan has 4 deckle edges, and a sheet of A4 sells for $12-15!!! I'm waiting to try my first sheet at this very moment. A very useful piece in your production would be to make printer profiles available for download.

Much better places to buy these kinds of papers in rolls are: http://www.phoenixartsupply.com/ http://store.hiromipaper.com/ They are easy to cut down and if you need a torn edge, tear it... --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "robertsonlauri" <laurirobertson@...> wrote:

I have been using Bizan paper for several years. In fact a did a residency where the paper is made, Awagami Factory in Tokushima Japan in 2006. It was a great experience as they let me use as much paper as I wanted. They have since changed their policy and make you pay for the materials. You can see their web site at: http://www.awagami.or.jp/en/about.html The paper is very beautiful with 4 deckle edges, all hand made and quite pricey... Great people there... My son lives in Japan. I graduated from Sophia, Univ., Tokyo. Thanks for the information. I would like to visit the mill. Did you coat the Bizan paper? If so, what product? Odaiji ni. Keith ________________________________

So you that have tried the new Moab Kozo, are you seeing a significant improvement in resolution and dmax as their offering is the only one I know of that has an applied inkjet receptor coating? If that's the case I'll certainly try it. john

Keith, I didn't do the coating but they did. It is silica based, they told me. They were pretty closed mouthed about that part but I know they would welcome you at the mill. I also studied Japanese at Sophia. If you get ready to go, let me know and I can introduce you to the right folks there. I have some prints in their collection...had a very nice show in their museum. John, That paper of of Moab's is the stuff made in Japan by Awagami. I love it. Here is a picture of me holding the first print I made with the paper that I felt was successful...great moment... http://www2.gol.com/users/pkohl/technique.html I would really recommend giving this stuff a try. It is thick but with the platten gap at its widest, I had no trouble with a 7880... If you want to get it from Japan, I can connect you with the right person...I have no financial connection with them, by the way, only personal.
