I've never used one of these.  I think it actually has 5 carts -- 2 black inks.  The dual black is used for fast printing.  I'm not sure there is a way to use the 2 spots for photo purposes.

I like the C88+ for super-simple B&W - the "EZ" approach.  This uses just a single dilute ink and Eboni.  It works amazingly well.  I buy these for my college kids along with a SuperJetUSA CIS, and the system last all year with no need for refills or maintenance.  If there was a CIS for the WorkForce 1100, it might be the easiest 13" printer to maintain.
