RE: [Digital BW] Re: new monitor

I run a dell 24" high dif model. It cost about 575 a year ago. Calibrate it
with an Eye One and have no problems making matching prints. Card reader
built in, DVI, usb, . If you are running a smaller studio without much
output going to other output devices, I really don't see a need to go out
and over spend on your monitor. I'd say more problems with monitors are
associated with their surroundings being non color managed than the monitor
itself; Bad mixture of surrounding light sources, wall or table colors,
floor covering, etc.

Thanks to a previous post by Richard I bought the Dell - (referenced above).
I got it for about $239 by calling Dell and asking for a deal. I calibrated
the monitor to use with a Mac book and its working great - - especially for
the price!! I would highly recommend the monitor for a low budget monitor.

On the other hand, (JP Caponigro, Maisel, Holbert, Schewe) are recommending
the NEC: I chose to use the NEC LCD2690WUXi because it had the right
combination of resolution, wide screen display, wide color gamut and yet
extremely accurate profiling so I could rely upon what I saw on the display.
I use it day in and day out and it's proven trustworthy. As a visual artist,
everything depends upon what I see. - Jeff Schewe // Also see:

Like the Eizo, the NEC is a big step up in price from the budget-level Dell.
