I previously wrote about the 2200 not recognizing ink in the Black position. Thanks to Charles Becker and Paul Roark for responding. I purchased the 2200 not a year ago from the Epson Store as refurbished unit. Luckily they agreed to replace it with a refurbished printer. I finally got the refurbished printer yesterday, only it is an 1800--not a 2200. I like the 2200 for its ability to print B&W using MIS UT7 inks on matte paper. I've read that the 1800 does a good job with glossy paper but not such a good deal with matte paper using their matte black ink. I have several OEM inks and MIS UT7 inks for the 2200. I have also ordered a used 2200 from EBay; and as it has not used for about 3 months, I am hoping that when it arrives in a few days, it is a good functioning printer. Here are my questions: 1. Did I get a good deal? I am thinking that Epaon did not have any more refurbished 2200's to resupply me. 2. As the 2400 is the upgrade for the 2200, should I ask them for this upgrade instead--even offering to chip in some ? money in the exchange? 3. Should I just keep the 1800 and reserve it for colored glossies and use the 2200 with the MIS inks? 4. If you think #2 is a good answer, do you think I should go for broke and try to get a deal on a 3800? Well, it is the Christmas season, and I have many jobs ready to que up and print; so any help you can give me on sorting this out would be appreciated. Thank you in advance. Nancy
