The Epson pro media person once told me that Epson has an exclusive on some of the paper weights and sizes. Aside from that, it was my understanding that they were virtually identical. Whether they have diverged since that time is an open question. The latest Hot Press coatings appear to be slightly different than the original -- better dmax, for example. I've noticed that the various weights of the paper also profile slightly differently. So, I can't say they are the same, but they are closely related both in base and coating.
