Digital BW, The Print

Sorry I should ave said.  It;s a 1290.  i managed to get a working 
one from 2 free broken ones, so I am trying it out.  At the moment I 
am very unimpressed with the results from Monochromepro.  
The prints using PS curves are poor, The UT2 curves don't seem right 
and the curves from northlight-images don't seem right either.

In fact none of them are as good as the print I get from my 2100 
(using Lyson Fotonic dye (yes I know..) inks and a curve I managed to 
liniarize using a scanner.

I need to decide whether to keep with the 1290 - maybe using real UT2 
inks, or sell it and get a 2400 for colour and switch the 2100 to UT7 
or something.  or maybe even just use the 2400 with QTR fro B&W.  

Will the 1290 ever be better than the 2400/OTR combo?
