First of all make sure that the paper thickness lever is set to + .

Then you need to clean the metal disc shaped guides at the botton
inside of this machine with windex and a lint free cloth. Be very
careful not to bend them though. I suspect you have ink build up
inside that printer. Take a strong light and look up inside the
carrage and carefully get rid of any accumulated ink in there. That
was always my problem with these older machines. If you run a print
and it doesn't get pulled into the printer correctly the heads spray
ink inside the printer and that builds up and eventually ends up on
your prints.
