i know the epsons' typical maintenance uses up its ink; so just to 
clarify what epson's website says:

To keep the print head clear, the printer uses a small amount of ink 
from all the cartridges whenever it prints. Even if you select Black 
Only, some color ink is still being used.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
