Innova Fibaprint Glossy USPS abrasion test

2006-03-08 by Helen Bach

As with Crane Museo Silver rag, I sent out a few postcards printed on
Innova Fibaprint Glossy to distant friends to see how much they were
damaged in the process. Part of the image was left uncoated, part was
given two coats of Krystal Topkote. The prints were left to dry for
one day before posting. I've noticed that the Innova paper is
susceptible to damage while printing (similar reports by others), but
this fragility seems to disappear when the ink has dried completely.

The results were a bit of a surprise: they survived very well. The
coated areas fared better because they picked up fewer marks, but
there was no damage to any of them. This is, in fact, better than the
Silver Rag cards which picked up a few minor scratches. This is not a
controlled test, of course.

Both of them appear to be very good postcard stock.

Best,
Helen
