I used to worry a lot, especially in re post cards and envelopes, and especially in the winter. But only in the context of the ink. I've been oblivious to risks which remain from the paper even when pigment ink is used. In particular, I like to print postcards to use for holiday cards at Christmas and New Years time, when whatever is mailed often travels at least a few feet exposed to wet weather. In addition to printing (often BO) an image on the front, on the back I print the address by hand and also scribble a short note, both with pigment ink. And when an envelope is used to enclose snapshots, etc., it's often Crane's uncoated (I believe) cotton stock on which I write the address. But I also often use a printer to put my return address on the A2/A6/A7 envelopes' square flaps. I'd appreciate any advice about how to make any of this more robust. Thanks. -- Sam
