Yes. It's called retrofiting and is part of a technicians job in most service organisations. It's also employed in rebuilds and repair of exchanged parts under service contracts in most industries. What? No one thought they just threw away valuable merchandise did they? They get repaired, recertified and go back on the shelf for use.
