I have both the 1270 and 1280. I tested the 1270 with UT2 and found that the 1280 gives significantly better results. The problem with the 1270 and black-and-white printing is that its just not well supported by any of the workflows. This means that you will land up wasting a great deal of time, ink, and paper. A reconditioned Epson from the Epson website for $325 will provide much better value.
