Johnny, why not just use the $5 dye ink carts from MIS in the color position for your 1280. Not quite a cheap as Windex but you can print color then whenever you have the need. I find color handy for when the kids send me a JPG that I want to show to my wife or when I have color text. None of that lasts for more than a few days, so archivalness is never an issue. But having a color option is a bit nice. BTW, my color is in an extra printer, a 890. My 1280 has UT-2. Have you considered a BO CFS? You'd only need the K cart and one tube plus a 4 oz. bottle of Eboni.
