QTR 2.0 and the gray gamma setting

2004-02-17 by luisvcool

I have a Mac running 10.3.2. I use PS7.01 and calibrated my CRT with MonacoEZcolor. I
also created a profile for my film scanner with Monaco.

After I scan my film (without color management), I open the scanned image in PS7 and I
select my scanner's profile in
"Assign Profile". I then change my image's mode to grayscale. Should I then use the
"Convert to Profile" command and select Gamma 2.2 and then edit my image?

QTR says that one must use a gray gamma setting of 2.2. The gamma setting on Macs is
1.8.
So I should go to "Color Settings" in PS7 and where it says "Gray: Gray Gamma 1.8", change
it to "Gray: Gray Gamma 2.2? Or should I put Gamma 2.2 in the "Convert to Profile"
window in PS7? and leave PS7's Color Setting as is?

I'm confused. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.
