Re: [Digital BW] Windows XP / Epson 1160 printer driver

2003-09-27 by Barry Kelsall

This is why I like to build my own boxes - I know exactly what is in them. I
have an Asus P4PE motherboard that uses the Intel 845 PE chipset. It came
with a CD that contained all the necessary drivers for my OS, NT 5.0
(Win2K). It also contains utilities for obtaining updates automatically over
the Internet from Asus.com.

You need to contact the manufacturer of your computer to find out how &
where to get drivers. You may have documentation that could help you. You
might even have that magical CD. But if your hardware was manufactured
before the release of XP, that CD is useless.

I also strongly recommend that you do not *upgrade* to XP; instead do a
clean install. It is a pain to have to start over & re-install all of your
software, but you will have a more stable system for it. In fact, I would
buy a new hard disk, & format it using NTFS & have your new system live on
it. FAT32 & FAT16 are the source of many of Windows instabilities.

Good luck, David. The journey you have embarked upon is not trivial, but
once successfully completed, you will have a solid OS.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
