Well, I guess I'll just jump into the frenzy and announce a Quad Tone printing option for those running or wanting to run Mac OS X. Here's a few highlights: 1) Its free. 2) Its the simplest workflow. Just print grayscales from any program. Interestingly similar idea as the new Cone system, but no fancy icc profile calibration needed. 3) Easily configurable to just about any inkset so you can buy anybody's ink or mix your own. Its based on Photoshop CMYK curves that get installed into the printer drivers. ---- It all installs from an ordinary disk image using OS X Installer. Here's the intro: http://www.harrington.com/QuadToneRIP.html Here's the disk image: http://www.harrington.com/QuadToneRIP.dmg.gz ---- I've done Curves for VM-Sepia Inks on my 1160 and here's a scan of the results: http://www.harrington.com/sepiastep.jpg ---- Although I hadn't considered the 2200 initially, I think there's a good chance that this system will be able to make great neutral non-metameristic black and whites. With individual control of CMYK, its possible to use mostly K which should also use light K and just add a little C and M and no Y. If anyone is interested in trying this idea let me know. Happy Printing Roy
