The midtones, upon very close inspection, are smoother with the Piezo driver than the Randall curve with Epson driver. But when viewed at normal viewing distance the smoothness of the mid-tones from the Randall curve is a non-issue I think, as it not noticeable, while the banding from the Piezo driver is still visible and more prominent. I still use the Piezo driver from time to time depending on the image, but if there are large mid-tone areas, perhaps in skies, for example, forget it! Banding everywhere!
