I get the same greater variance as Jim when converting to sRGB, same smaller
variance as Martin when conveting to Adobe RGB and my own CMYK versions also
get a small variance. small small...

yes... exactly.

not so sure yet.  I'm posting something soon... I think the sRGB profile
used in Paul's workflow may be part of the problem.
