Re: [Digital BW] Silver Efex Pro 2 crashes on image open

2017-05-01 by Brubaker family

Hi Don,

Thanks for your reply. I had also seen the info about the graphics processor on the Nik forum. I am using the built in Intel 4600 GPU that is in my Core I3 CPU. I have it set to the max 1 Gig. of video memory setting. The computer has 8 Gig of memory total. I've experimented with SEP2 settings and I can get images to open and not crash if I turn off the GPU in the SETTINGS menu. The only problem there is that I cannot get the setting to stick. When I freshly open SEP2, the GPU setting is back to enabled and the program crashes if I load an image. So at least I have a way to open and work on the images I need to, though it is less than ideal.

Nik tools use the graphics memory. How
much do you have? You may have pushed over the
capacity with a particular image. Do other images open
ok?In the past I had crashes in nik2 when they
upgraded from nik version 1Fix was more graphics
memory. This may or may not be what you are
experiencing- it's just what I experiencedNik
is now unsupported for any updates or new operating system
versions- go look at the google page

Recently I have found that SEP2 is
crashing/closes as soon as I open a color image. This does
not happen if I open an image previously processed with
SEP2. (Or at least the last image I remember processing
successfully in SEP2) It happens with both .jpg and .tif
images. I have 20 Gig of free HD space on my Mac, so I
 wouldn't think that is the
 problem.
 Any help will be
 appreciated.
