Re: Ink leaking out

2015-07-04 by paulmwhiting@...

Thanks, Jeff.

Of course! InkjetMall, why didn't I think of that. I know that site and have ordered empty refillable carts from them for my 1400. I first started refilling carts using supplies from MIS for my R1800 and they do recommend the adapter on a syringe to withdraw about 1cc of ink, and then insert the refill plug. The idea apparently was to create a slight vacuum in the cart and prevent leakage. The air vent remains open..

When I bought some carts from IJM on the other hand, their instructions do not mention withdrawing ink from the bottom of the cart.

I've not had leakage from either method. Hard to know who to believe! I tend to think withdrawing that 1cc is probably the best approach. Any leakage I've had (and I have had that happen) I attribute to worn out seals in the refill port on the bottom - then it's time for a new cartridge.

My $0.02,

Paul
