Jeff, I had a lot of problems getting the MIS Ink Supply cartridges that came with the Eboni 6 kit recognized by my 1430—they worked for a few weeks, but after that I would always have a few carts that wouldn't be recognized. I now stick with the EZ fill Capsules/Keys from Ink Jet Mall and they work flawlessly every time. As far as the different chips: you would still need to swap them, but I find them a lot more convenient for filling and experimenting with different ink set combinations (if you want to mess with that).
