Previously on “Lost” [In EZ Ink Land]…
I managed to solve my “cart vent” woes (maybe) by pulling the vent plug tabs, and was finally getting (streaky) prints from my Epson C88/EZ Ink combo…
I’ve seen plenty of inkjet prints with lines before, and the problem usually went away with a few head cleanings.
So I ran the Epson Utility nozzle check and cleaning programs on the EZ carts. The first time the nozzle check pattern was very broken up. Four successive cleanings saw significant improvements.
But then everything stopped and the ink button on my C88 started flashing red. When I pressed the button, it moved the carts to an indicator that showed my photo black cart as empty.
I tried various button pushes, turning the printer on and off, restarting the computer, but to no avail. When I dropped the original Epson carts back in, all was well. But when I returned the EZ inks, I got the flashing red ink light again.
And that’s where things stand.
I’m hoping this account will make more interesting reading in the future as I tweak settings and experiment with paper on my way to A. Adams-style perfection on a budget.
But until I can get the C88 printing again, that won’t be happening. :-) I’m away all day tomorrow, but will be back at it Sunday.
