I was really asking about specific papers since there are many hot and cold press Arches papers. Not all have the same sizing, texture, etc and could certainly influence how the paper can handle an ink load. I haven't run test on this thought, but since it applies to absorption, do you track the humidity of the paper prior to printing? It's their standard watercolor papers. 22"x30", 140lb/300GSM. I live in Alpine TX. Humidity is little concern, so no, I don't track it. I can imagine that where you are, humidity is a constant headache.
