Good luck with the printer. The 1430 is certainly a steal right now the $50 rebate and 15% discount available.

You may find it frustrating to try and get good black and white prints using the color ink set. Don't bog down too much in that effort. Spring for one of the Eboni sets Paul has developed and get on with it. The Eboni-6 is excellent for matte surface prints and the UT14 will do both matte and glossy surfaces. 

You will be facing a bit of a learning curve, getting a handle on loading your own inks and controlling the process, but there is plenty of support here. I have no doubt you are going to like what you can do.
