Re: B&W and Color with one printer?

2013-01-07 by Paul

Just checked my account and found out I've had my R1800 five years! Where did the time go? But so far so good, it's served me well.

I have it set up with Paul's 3MK (MIS Eboni ink) configuration and have been happy with some fine b/w work. The five color slots use carts with MIS Cleaning Fluid, but now I'd like to do some occasional color work. I'm thinking of using MIS color ink... I'll be limited to matt but that's ok, I'd prefer matt anyway.

Has anyone used MIS color inks with their Eboni ink? Should be ok, don't you think? I have the five colors (cyan, magenta, yellow, red, blue) in small 2 oz bottles, MIS sells them to refill the PictureMate, a project that didn't work out for me for other reasons. What's interesting is that this inkset for the PictureMate uses the designation, to take the yellow as an example "R800 Yellow". This tells me this inkset is used in the R800/R1800 as well as the PictureMate. The label also says "gloss compatible" but I take that to mean that by itself it's not gloss, but only gloss when there's a GLOP cartridge and a PK cartridge in the setup.
