Hello,I am looking for a printer that will allow me to print both good B as well as color. I have been printing with a 6 ink Canon i960 which does fine with color but unsatisfactory B--color casts, metamerism, etc. The Canon printer has been very reliable and maintenance free--no problems. My wife is the principal user of this printer. I have followed with interest on this forum the work of Paul Roark and have read (several times!) his paper on printing B with an Epson 1400/1430 using QTR and the Epson Claria inkset. It seems this process produces very acceptable glossy B prints particularly with Red River Polar metallic paper. I feel this affordable approach would provide the quality I seek in B printing, at least for now, without committing to a dedicated B printer. I'm not looking for collector or museum quality here but just respectable quality for personal use. But I have some questions and would be most grateful for any comments or suggestions: 1. Must the OEM Claria inkset be used or might a 3rd party inkset be acceptable, such as one from MIS Associates? The cost advantage with the MIS inks is substantial. 2. What about clogging issues? I've not used Epson printers but have read in the past this has been a problem. Maybe this only applies to pigment inks. 3. Are there other similar printer/workflows I should be researching that might apply? I appreciate any and all input. Thanks,Lynn [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
